Burgers in the Backcountry: Everest & The Seven Summits

This Earth Day we’re proud to give you the behind-the-scenes story of Washington Native and Mountaineer Andrew Hughes. As a UW graduate Andrew has used Dick’s Drive-In Restaurant burgers, fries and shakes as fuel in his quest to summit the highest peaks on all seven continents over the last decade!

After summiting the initial six highest summits by 2019, only the world’s highest peak in Everest remained! Alongside many in 2019 (the deadliest year in Everest’s history) Andrew was unable to summit and in fact needed an emergency evac for medical care. Despite that harrowing experience, Andrew has returned this year to complete his goal and summit Everest!
Update: Andrew Hughes reached the summit of Mt. Everest on May 23rd at 10:10AM. Watch his journey on his instagram @andrew_i_hughes
